Dr. Sdringola joined The University of Texas at Houston in 2000 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine.  He received his medical degree from the University of Perugia in 1990 (cum laude) and completed his residency and fellowship training at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.  He is a reviewer for many medical journals.  He has been honored with the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award for several years, he has been elected twice cardiology fellowship Teacher of the Year and received the nomination of Physician of the Year Award by Memorial Hermann Hospital. Since 2006 has been awarded The Weatherhead Distinguished University Chair of Heart Diseases.

Dr. Sdringola is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, and Albo dei Medici Chirurghi di Perugia-Italy. 

Dr. Sdringola’s clinical interests are primary and secondary prevention of ischemic coronary artery disease, hyperlipidemia management, non-invasive management of stable coronary atherosclerosis. His areas of expertise are coronary atherosclerosis stabilization and regression, acute coronary syndromes, interventional cardiology, cardiology intensive care, and nuclear cardiology (PET and SPECT).

Dr. Sdringola has an active interest in research related to preventing and reversing coronary atherosclerosis.

Dr. Sdringola is the author of more than 100 manuscripts in peer reviewed and international journals, published 56 abstracts, 40 publications, 5 review articles and several book chapters.

Dr. Sdringola is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
