Dr. Loghin joined The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2004.  He earned his medical degree and completed his residency from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania.  Prior positions were attending physician in internal medicine at University Hospital Nr. 1 in Romania, then senior attending physician (consultant) internal medicine and non-invasive cardiology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania.   Dr. Loghin completed his residency and cardiology fellowship here at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. 


Dr. Loghin is an expert in echocardiography, clinical cardiology and teaching. He hails from Romania, where he trained in internal medicine and cardiology and took his initial faculty appointment. He subsequently retrained in our institution in both internal medicine and cardiology and has dual United States certification in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.


Dr. Loghin is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the areas of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography.  He is currently remains an member of the American College of Cardiology, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Internal Medicine, Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Romanian Society of Cardiology, Romanian Society of Physicians and Nature Scientists.  He has received many honors and awards which include Chief Medical Resident, candidate of special consideration and early promotion to senior resident, etc.  He also serves as editor for Circulation, Journal of the American Heart Association as well as the Journal of Nuclear Medicine.


Dr. Loghin is an expert echocardiographer and contributes in both UT’s outpatient and the Memorial Hermann Heart and Vascular Institute echocardiography laboratories.  He has a strong general interest in cardiac imaging along with experience in cardiac positron emission tomography, under Dr. Gould’s mentorship as well as echocardiography and diagnostic cardiac catheterization.  Dr. Loghin’s research focused on cardiac resynchronization therapy in patients with advanced heart failure as guided  by advanced echocardiography methods, fundamental technical aspects of positron emission tomography imaging, mitral valve pathophysiology and percutaneous mitral regurgitation repair guided by transesophageal echocardiography, non invasive imaging of the vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque by magnetic resonance imaging, all in parallel with keeping a busy clinical schedule and providing consultative services for Memorial Hermann Hospital.
